Scallop and mentaiko lovers will definitely fall in love with the Hotate Mentai Mayo Don ($10) . Grilled scallops are diced before being smeared with cod roe mayo, and then blowtorched to meld everything together.

The mentaiko had a good char and pleasant brininess when combined with the grilled scallops. Mixed with rice, this decadent combination ought to please anyone with its creamy and umamilicious flavours.

We visited their Marina Square outlet and were impressed with the comfortable ambience. The restaurant in addition comes with an expansive view of the Singapore skyline, making it an ideal place to chill in the afternoon.
