From firecracker pops to banana pudding, Oreo has introduced its fair share of wacky flavors lately. But the wildest releases, without question, come from its collaboration with KFC. Earlier this month, the brand behind milk’s favorite cookie partnered with the fast food chain to create a spicy chicken-flavored Oreo.

The cookie, available only in China, features KFC-branded chocolate cookies sandwiched between a chicken-flavored creme. And just when we thought a chicken-flavored cookie was over-the-top already, the brands decided to commit even more to the bit.

Starting August 28, KFC locations in China will debut an Oreo-flavored chicken sandwich. The Oreo Original Recipe Chicken Burger starts with a breaded chicken thigh and lettuce…and devolves from there.

Instead of the chain’s typical bread, this sandwich comes with Oreo-flavored buns that are tinted black and stamped with an image of the cookie. Inside the burger, KFC is adding a layer of mashed potatoes coated in crushed Oreo pieces. On Chinese social media platforms like RedNote, initial reviews of the salty-sweet sandwich are positive.

But on the other side of the world, people are horrified. “KFC scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should,” one Reddit user said.

Another added, “That sounds beyond terrible.” Still, some social media users raised the very fair point that U.S. fast food lovers may be living in a glass house.

In response to the backlash, one commenter wrote, “Fellow Americans. Did we forget the donut burger?”

Another mentioned the infamous KFC Double Down that used two pieces of fried chicken in lieu of a bun. While slightly less outlandish than adding Oreos to a sandwich, it’s proof that we’re no strangers to wacky food at KFC either.

Sadly (or luckily, depending on who you ask), this Oreo-flavored chicken sandwich is only available in China for a limited time. So if you want to see how this tastes in real life, you’ll need to book a flight.
