Cooking with the kids: Baked donuts with frosting (video)

Cooking with the kids: Baked donuts with frosting (video)

Today we had our little helper Sárka in the kitchen and we baked fluffy donuts. No frying, no leavening, but with a really sweet and colorful icing.

These perfect donuts are a healthier and more nutritious alternative to classic fried donuts thanks to a gentler method. The preparation is very quick, because the dough does not have to rise. Thanks to coconut oil and Greek yogurt, they remain soft and fluffy. Baking together is a great way to spend pleasant time in the kitchen, so do not hesitate to try this playful treat with your children. You will love this simple procedure and the new version of a traditional treat will become your favorite family recipe.

Procedure

1 Prepare the doughnuts: In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. 2 In another bowl, mix the sugar, egg, vanilla paste and Greek yoghurt, add the milk and melted coconut oil. 3 Mix both mixtures. 4 To make it easier to fill the mould, pour the dough into a pastry bag. Grease the doughnut mould with oil and fill with dough to the brim. 5 Bake for 8–10 minutes in the oven preheated to approximately 175 °C. 6 Prepare the icing: Mix the melted butter with the sugar and vanilla paste. Gradually add the milk. Mix until a smooth, thick icing is formed. 7 Dip the baked, slightly cooled doughnuts into the icing and sprinkle with colored sprinkles.
