BarthHaas Group appoints Karsten Neuffer as first Group CEO

Global hops supplier BarthHaas Group has appointed Karsten Neuffer as its first Group Chief Executive Officer, bringing its businesses under the leadership of a single CEO for the first time in the company’s more than 230-year history.

“Karsten’s appointment marks the next step in the evolution of BarthHaas, and in more than 230 years, the first time the Group is led by a single Chief Executive,”

Effective from 1 September 2026, Neuffer will take overall responsibility for the BarthHaas Group, which comprises BarthHaas, John I. Haas and Australian hop grower and supplier Hop Products Australia (HPA).

Neuffer joins the group with extensive experience across the global agriculture and food industries, having previously held senior leadership positions at Syngenta and Indigo Ag, before most recently serving as CEO of RiceTec.

BarthHaas Chairman Alex Barth said the appointment represented the next stage in the development of the global group.

“Karsten’s appointment marks the next step in the evolution of BarthHaas, and in more than 230 years, the first time the Group is led by a single Chief Executive,” Barth said.

“Our Group is built on a strong foundation, a proud history, deep market expertise, clear values, and close customer relationships that have long defined our business. We intend to build on these strengths while continuing to evolve the organization and position the BarthHaas Group for long-term success.”

Through BarthHaas, John I. Haas and HPA, the group works with hop growers and brewing customers across major international markets.

Neuffer said he would focus on working with the group’s employees, customers and partners as it enters its next phase.

“I am thrilled to join the BarthHaas Group and feel very privileged to lead the organization through its next phase,” Neuffer said.

“As a leading player in the global hop industry, BarthHaas has a unique global footprint and portfolio, close and trusted relationships with the brewing industry, and outstanding people who share my passion for agriculture.

“I look forward to working closely with our employees, customers, and partners across the business for sustainable growth for all.”
