The Santiago Bernabéu will boast the largest food offering of any Spanish stadium, thanks to Amicalia. It will be a gastronomic market with 25 vendors, bringing a "popular, yet high-quality" selection to the venue. According to Anxo García, the group's CEO, who spoke with 7Caníbales, the market will be open "365 days a year" to the general public.

“We’re quite happy. Real Madrid had a project like this planned, we made a proposal and they liked it,” he adds. The Amicalia Group has extensive experience in the hospitality industry, owning restaurants such as Alabaster, Arallo Taberna, A Mundiña, and Omakase Sushi Bar, among others.

The idea behind this market is to bring the atmosphere of a Madrid neighborhood with a good culinary scene to the Bernabéu stadium, where "you can wander from one bar to another as if strolling through the streets." It covers 3,000 square meters plus an outdoor terrace, and the investment exceeds six million euros.

The first contact between the two parties occurred when the Galician group was interested in one of the premises that Real Madrid will allocate to restaurants in its home, although it finally opted for this "more popular" offer.

Under the Tribune Stand

Construction of the Bernabeu Market, undertaken by Desarrolla Obras y Servicios with interior design by Burr Studio and Studio Animal, has already begun and is expected to be completed in October. It is located in a space beneath the Tribuna stand of the renovated stadium.

According to the construction company's website, the project aligns with Real Madrid's vision of establishing the new stadium as a top-tier tourist and sporting attraction in Madrid. Before the renovations, it already received 12 million visitors annually, and the club estimates that this figure will reach 18 million after the refurbishment.

Amicalia is finalizing the selection of the operators who will provide food and drinks starting in the last quarter of 2024. And, although it seems like a complex challenge, Anxo García believes that in terms of management "it's simpler than running a restaurant for 50 diners, because the day-to-day is complicated."

The Bernabéu will also be the only Spanish stadium with its own brewery, in partnership with Mahou, and will have a sky bar with views of the pitch and the city.
