If you love Korean food but you’re on a budget, OGOG is the place for you. This casual eatery at CIMB Plaza offers Korean cai png from just $9.90, where you can choose from different bases and side dishes. The most affordable option is the 3-Dish Bansang (from $9.90), which gives you a base—such as rice—alongside three Korean dishes, and a choice between kimchi or a sauce.

• 2. Nakoko

For a refreshing treat to beat the heat, get an acai bowl at Nakoko, conveniently located at Lau Pa Sat. The acai soft serve here is dairy-free, and you can choose from over 15 different toppings to customise your bowl to your liking. A medium cup costs $6.50 while a large .

We’d say the classic acai base is the best when paired with fresh fruits and some Baked Cashews, finished with the creamy Almond Nut Butter drizzle. The acai spot is only a five-minute walk from Raffles Place MRT Station, and you don’t have to worry about seats, as you can enjoy it straight at the hawker centre.

• 3. Nong Geng Ji

This one’s for fans of Chinese food: Nong Geng Ji specialises in Hunan cuisine, which is best known for its punchy flavours. If it’s your first time here, we recommend getting the crowd-favourite Stir-Fried Pork with Abalone and Chilli ($28.80++). This dish features lots of Hunan green pepper, giving the pork and baby abalone a good kick of spice.

Seafood lovers can opt for the Signature Grass Fish Fillet with Chilli ($24.80++) instead, starring flaky sliced fish mixed with a pickled chilli sauce. Taiwan-famous bubble tea chain Kebuke has found a home in Raffles Place, following its successful launch in town. There’s a cosy dine-in space, where you can chat with your friends and colleagues over drinks.

For something classic, get the Brown Sugar Pearl Black Tea Latte (from $5.70), featuring a creamy milk base with a generous scoop of brown sugar syrup and pearl topping. But since you’re already there, we recommend trying something new: their Biscoff Black Tea ($5.60) is a Singapore-exclusive flavour that sees swirls of crunchy cookie butter mixed with black tea and fresh milk.

• 5. The Backyard Bakers

Found at Republic Plaza is The Backyard Bakers. Many will know them for being a popular bakery on Instagram with close to 40K followers at the time of writing.

Customers love their blackout brownies most, especially because there are plenty of interesting flavours to choose from. Some unique flavours that caught our attention include the creamy Peanut Butter & Himalayan Pink Salt ($7.65), the sweet-salty Valrhona Dulcey & Maldon Sea Salt Flakes ($7.95), and alcohol-infused Whisky Orange & Dark Chocolate ($8.10). • 6. Soup Cup

For a fuss-free meal that doesn’t sacrifice on flavour, check out Soup Cup, a six-minute walk from Raffles Place MRT Station. Started by an ex-MasterChef Singapore finalist, this kiosk specialises in fish soup that’s packed with flavour, sans MSG. Their Signature Seafood Soup ($14) is loaded with liao, namely grouper slices, clams, pork, prawns, and squid.

• 7. Golden Nur

A mere three minutes on foot from Raffles Place MRT Station is Market Street Hawker Centre, which houses plenty of affordable and delicious eats. One such is Golden Nur, a family-run stall known for their Crispy Chicken Biryani ($6.50). Only served at lunch, each portion gets you a deep-fried chicken leg that’s well-marinated, boasting a crispy crust and tender meat.

Located nearby is Sol & Luna, a pretty European restaurant perched on the 17th floor of CapitaSpring. The CBD spot offers well-priced lunch sets with a view, at $42++ per person for a two-course meal, or $48++ for three.

There are six mains to choose from, and we recommend the Pan-Seared Barramundi with ‘Ratatouille’ for a delicious combination of zucchini, eggplant, and basil oil, or the classic Oven-Baked Lasagna made with beef bolognese, mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, and parmesan cream. Fans of Whiskdom can now get their lava cookies and muffins at the homegrown bakery’s One Raffles Place outlet. The takeaway kiosk offers the brand’s famous bakes that come with a molten filling, including popular flavours such as Matcha Lava Cookie and Salted Dark Chocolate Brownie.

• 10. 88 Hong Kong Roast Meat Specialist

Here’s a not-so-secret secret: 88 Hong Kong Roast Meat Specialist is a unanimous favourite among the EB team. Helmed by an ex-restaurant chef, this popular stall has expanded to the CBD.

Their Far East Square outlet boasts over 100 seats with a comfortable air-conditioned setting. You’ll find the eatery’s signatures here, from their Roasted Pork + Char Siew + Roasted Duck Rice ($12) to their Premium Char Siew Wanton Noodle ($7.50). If you’re visiting in a group, get a Large ($33) meat platter to share, which comes with all three meats.

• 11. Souperstar

Soup might be in their name, but the real stars in Souperstar are actually the healthy fusion popiah. Building from their family popiah business, the sister-owners started out Souperstar selling popiah wraps and soups, branching to salads and sandwiches later on.

The popiah wraps are handmade fresh daily, and come in a variety of flavours, with the Sesame Chicken ($6) as the darling of the bunch. If you’re going low-carb, opt for salads or hearty soups such as Creamy Tomato Basil ($6.90) and Souper Shroomy ($7.20).

If you’re a fan of fish, check out Xiao Yu Hao, a viral suan cai yu chain from China. Their signature Sauerkraut Black Fish in Golden Broth ($12.90) is a must-try, featuring firm yet chewy noodles, tender slices of fish, and a rich broth marked by tangy suan cai.

Loaded US-style sandwiches are the name of the game here at The Sandwich Guys, which moved to One Raffles Place from the West. Formerly serving the students of Nanyang Technological University, the office crowd now has access to these decadent sandwiches, which the owner calls “meatwiches”.

They kept their best-selling favourite Pastrami ($14), stuffed with smoked beef brisket for an indulgent experience. Also popular is the Philly-style Cheesesteak ($9.50), featuring roast ribeye slices with cheddar and mozzarella, drenched in copious amounts of nacho cheese.

The Daily Cut is an inconspicuous salad joint that is quiet by design. Minimalist in nature, the shop has no signboard or people to take your order.

You simply have to tick all that you want on their paper menu and hand it over to the staff behind the counter. Each order starts with a bowl size (from $10.50) with varying amounts of base, protein, supplements (vegetables and grains), toppings and dressings.

They are not only known for their large selection of scones and madelines, but also experimental bakes such as shio pan and sourdough croissants. You can grab one of their pastries for $2.20, or mix and match three for $5.80.

This list isn’t complete without a mention of Gochi-So Shokudo, a casual Japanese restaurant with a wide range of menu items such as rice bowls, steak, tonkatsu, and kaisendon. The most popular orders here are from the Charcoal Grill Iberico Don range.

Highlights include the Iberico Black Char Siew Don (price TBD), which stars juicy strips of char siew-style Iberico pork atop a bed of short-grain rice, complete with an onsen egg.
