Tempty Foods Launches Bulk Frozen Mycelium Chunks for Danish Canteen Kitchens
Danish mycelium producer Tempty Foods has released TEMPTY Svamperods Chunks, a frozen bulk format sold only through foodservice channels. The product is registered with wholesalers Dagrofa Foodservice, Hørkram Foodservice and Dansk Cater, the latter covering inco Cash & Carry, BC Catering and AB Catering.
“This addresses a request from many chefs in canteens for a tasty product that is even easier to prepare than our regular TEMPTY.”
The chunks are 17g battered bites built on the company’s standard ingredient base of mushroom roots (mycelium), carrots, quinoa and lentils, coated in cornflakes. Cases hold 4kg and the product cooks from frozen in an oven, air fryer or deep fryer. Tempty positions it for bowls and salads or as a substitute for falafel and meatballs on canteen menus.
Preparation time drove the format
The cornflake coating and ingredient base repeat the formulation Tempty used for its Spicy Korean Stick, which expanded across 7-Eleven Denmark at the end of last year. The difference in the new launch is handling: the chunks require no portioning, thawing or assembly, which is the constraint that large-volume kitchens cite most often when assessing plant-based lines.
Distributor fair doubles as launch venue
The chunks are being sampled today at Madscenen, the annual foodservice fair run by Dagrofa Foodservice at TAP1 in Copenhagen, which has drawn more than 140 exhibitors this year and is one of the three wholesalers now carrying the product.
Tempty has been building distribution steadily through 2026. In May, the company reached its crowdfunding target on Republic Europe, raising €356,538 from 107 investors with 26 days left on the campaign, and subsequently raised its ceiling. The capital was earmarked for retail expansion in Denmark and entry into the wider Nordic market.
Explaining the reasoning behind the launch, the company wrote on LinkedIn: “This addresses a request from many chefs in canteens for a tasty product that is even easier to prepare than our regular TEMPTY.”
