The program includes the Luminary Award, Distinguished Leadership Award, Rising Star Award and Volunteer of the Year Award. The awards will be presented during the 2027 NCA Convention, taking place March 4-6 in Austin, Texas.

Coffee Roasting Champion Andrew Coe launch partner for its new electric fluid-bed roaster line. Coe will receive an SRM9E for his roasting operation in St. George, Utah, while working with Sivetz on testing and education, going to the company.

The electric fluid-bed models — SRM9E and SRM5E — joined the Sivetz lineup after Sivetz and Peachey Roasters unified operations earlier this year. Michael “Mike” Kapos has assumed the CEO role at Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based Downeast Coffee Roasters.

His father, Bill Kapos, has transitioned to president and will remain active in the firm, per to a Downeast notice. Storied Coffee Ownership Transfer in Schenectady In Schenectady, New York, Storied Coffee founders Rich and Christine Sarnacki have transferred full ownership of the Storied name and Jay Street coffee shop to shop manager Julia Brisbane. The company announced the transition on Facebook.

States UK-born coffee chain Black Sheep Coffee has identified Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina as its next U.S. rollout targets, per to a business announcement. The statement reinforced a 20-store Dallas-Fort Worth franchise agreement announced in February. SCA Names New Chapter Committees Across Europe The Specialty Coffee Association unveiled newly elected committees for 11 existing European chapters.

The volunteer committees will serve three-year terms in Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Argentina’s Exigí Buen Café Plans Its Biggest Show Yet Argentina coffee event Exigí Buen Café is set to take place Sept. 13-14 at La Rural in Buenos Aires.

The event is forecast to bring together more than 100 exhibitors from four continents, roughly 1,500 baristas, coffee growers from countries including Brazil, Colombia, Congo and Venezuela, plus national competitions, workshops, talks and tastings, per to organizers. Ten Milwaukee-area cafes are participating in a self-guided coffee crawl during September, going to an Urban Milwaukee report. Cleveland roaster-retailer Lekko Coffee is launching a “Midwest Coffee Tour” at its Warehouse District shop, featuring roasts from companies in different Midwest cities, according to a Cleveland.com report.

The 600-square-foot shop opened in 2025 with a multiroaster espresso station designed to showcase coffees from Lekko and other roasters.
