Popeyes: New Salted Egg Fried Chicken, Pandan Kaya Biscuit And More

The first dish is a spin on the two-piece chicken set: the Shiok Salted Egg 2pc Chicken (from $8.80). Popeyes’ signature bone-in chicken is already marinated in Cajun seasoning for over 12 hours then hand-battered and breaded in-store, but here, it gets an extra savoury makeover—all thanks to the rich salted egg sauce poured atop it.

Do note that from 29 July to 31 July 2024, you can buy a Salted Egg 1pc Chicken ($5) and get another piece free! You can get this deal at all outlets except Changi Terminal 1, with limited redemptions per day.

If you’re more of a burger person, then you can go for the Shiok Salted Egg Classic Chicken Sandwich ($7.90). The crispy chicken thigh patty here is coated in the same salted egg sauce, and is joined with crunchy pickled cucumbers and two fluffy brioche buns. For a heartier version of this dish, you can pick the double patty version for $9.90.

End off the meal with the series’ side dish, the Pandan Kaya Biscuit ($2.50). The savoury buttermilk biscuit we all know and love from Popeyes is slathered in an aromatic and creamy kaya spread.

We found that the coconutty notes of the kaya work surprisingly well with the buttery goodness of the biscuit. Quench your thirst with the Watermelon Fizzy Pop ($3.50), featuring 7UP Zero Sugar. After all those flavourful salted egg dishes, a simple, fizzy sweet drink like this certainly does the trick.
