If you were to use the phrase ‘hidden gem’ on just one eatery, it would be Tiantai Hotpot, without a doubt. The hotpot spot is situated on the rooftop of People’s Park Complex, offering diners a pretty one-of-a-kind hotpot experience.

The menu here is simple, there are three soup bases: Spicy Red Oil, Mushroom, and Tomato, as well as more than 50 types of ingredients to choose from. Two bases are priced at $12, which we thought was pretty affordable. We recommend going for the Spain Black Pig Streaky Pork ($20), Sole Fish ($3), and US Beef Brisket ($9) for your protein, as well as grabbing a portion of their hand-pulled Flat Noodles ($6).

Accompanied by live music and a gorgeous view of the CBD, Supply & Demand is a great rooftop restaurant to impress your date at. You can even dedicate songs to flaunt your taste in music.

The menu largely features Italian dishes with a twist. The Morning After ($29++) catches our eye as it is a reinvention of a full English breakfast as a pizza. Toppings include mushrooms, a runny egg, and bacon, as well as the usual marinara sauce and mozzarella.

They also have a number of vegetarian dishes, such as the Chickpea Hummus & Guacamole ($16++), and the Mushroom and Raclette Crostini ($16). The former is served with a garlic flatbread to mop up all the nutty goodness, while the latter features moreish garlic crostinis topped with sauteed mushrooms and melted raclette cheese. Start off the meal with your choice of maki rolls from their selection, including options with foie gras and scallop, or soft shell crab. Most of these are priced under $30++.

Fry Rooftop Bistro And Bar offers a gorgeous view of the Duxton district with a lively atmosphere. Sip on your favourite drink as you and your date watch the sunset behind the neighbouring buildings.

You could order their thicc Fry Beef Burger ($26++), which comes with a chunky 100% ground beef patty along with an oozy slice of grilled cheese. Who says you can’t have an affordable night out when there’s restaurants such as True Cost located at Suntec City, serving delicious fare at low prices.

Feast on Salmon Sashimi ($14.50) dressed with mash wasabi avocado and shiso sauce, or Hokkaido Scallop Ceviche ($17.50), accompanied by mango ponzu and chili oil. Chinese liquors such as Baijiu, Fen Jiu, and Moutai take centre stage in the cocktails at True Cost. Lavo at Marina Bay Sands may be a popular rooftop restaurant for dinner and their famed weekend champagne brunches, but they also do relatively affordable lunch sets if you’re looking for a midday date. Their weekday two-course set is priced at $45++, while their three-course set is priced at $55++.

Factor in the stunning views of the bay area, and Lavo becomes the choice to help you score brownie points with bae. Depending on your set option, you get a main, and either an appetiser and/or dessert. Highlights here include Pollo Ripieno Di Ricotta E Spinaci, a spinach and ricotta-stuffed chicken breast with a side of mushroom ragu and thyme chicken jus, and Cacciuccio Alla Livornese, a fish and shellfish stew with garlic-infused sourdough.
