Those residing in the vicinity of Tampines North BTO estate will surely know of Chang Cheng Mee Wah, a coffeeshop with more than 15 stalls spanning affordable Western food and popular Thai snacks. One of the stalls is Rong Kee Roasted Delights, where you can enjoy Char Siew Wanton Noodles for $4. If you can’t decide which protein to get, just go straight for the Signature Triple Rice ($7.30), comprising crispy shao rou, tender char siew, and succulent duck meat.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to find old-school cakes in Singapore, but you can find them in a variety of flavours here at Ben Baker, a neighbourhood bakery in Tampines North. Yam Orh Nee ($3) and Old School Butter Cream ($3) are just some popular cake flavours on display.

• 3. The Grace Bowl by Sarawak Delicacy

If you love kolo mee as much as we do, head to The Grace Bowl by Sarawak Delicacy at Chang Cheng Mee Wah. A bowl of Kolo Mee costs $5.80 here, and you can choose from three sauces: red, soya, and white.

Another must-try dish is the Sarawak Laksa ($6.60), boasting a robust, coconutty soup with a kick of spice. Besides these Sarawakian dishes, there’s the classic Chicken Cutlet Noodle ($5): springy noodles topped with crispy, deep-fried chicken cutlet.

• 4. Banom Kai Khon

Banom Kai Khon is a must-visit for Thai food lovers. We recommend starting with their Signature Creamy Omelette Fried Rice that comes with a main protein of your choice, ranging from the most popular Crab Meat ($9.90) to Fried Pork Belly ($7.50).

For those visiting in a pair or a group, the Thai Pork Skewer ($5 for three pieces) is great for sharing. Then, round off your meal with the signature kanom krok, which are essentially kueh-like Thai pancakes that come in three flavours: pandan, coconut, and sweet potato.

• 5. Koo Kee Yong Tow Foo Mee

Koo Kee Yong Tow Foo Mee is one for the books if you love any of these two things: noodles and yong tau foo. Their signature Koo Kee Special Noodle ($5.80) is a must-try, served with a bowl of dry, springy noodles topped with minced meat and a robust soup featuring soya beans and ikan bilis.

If you don’t mind a bit of spice, the Hot Plate Spicy Yong Tow Foo with Rice ($6.30) is an equally delicious alternative, featuring a variety of ingredients doused in their house-made sauce on a sizzling hotplate. There aren’t many dessert cafes in Tampines North, and Betsubara Creamery & Cafe is one of the few that’s open till 10pm every day. For a simple treat, get a scoop of their gelato at $4.90, but for the best experience, we recommend pairing it with their Signature Hokkaido Butter Waffles ($8.90). There’s an entire beverage menu too, consisting of coffee and tea, as well as the lesser-seen Sea Salt Hokkaido Milk ($4.90), refreshing Lychee Fizz ($6.50), and nutty-earthy Hojicha Latte (from $6).

• 7. Old World Bakuteh & Fried Porridge

Bak kut teh is one of our comfort foods, and if you love it as much as we do, Old World Bakuteh & Fried Porridge is a must-visit. A classic, comforting bowl of Pork Ribs Soup costs $7.50, but if you’re visiting in a pair or a group of three, we recommend getting the Claypot Signature Dang Gui Bak Kut Teh for $19.80 instead.

Another Thai eatery on this list is Happy Thai Food at Giant Tampines Food Court. Their mains are priced under $10, with the most popular options being the Tom Yum Seafood with Rice ($6.90) and Basil Crispy Pork with Rice and Fried Egg ($6.90).

Home-based cafes have been all the craze in 2025; we’ve seen a spike in the number of these establishments recently. Spilled Roaster&Brews is one of them, serving up a range of beverages in the comfort of an HDB unit.

Coffee lovers can go for a classic Black ($4.50), or if you don’t mind the wait, their Filter Brew ($5) is worth a try. There’s also the popular Matcha Latte, priced at $5.50 per cup here. Do note that the cafe only opens on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Since we’re on the topic of home-based cafes, Brewprint Coffee is another popular addition to the list. This cafe is the perfect place for matcha lovers, with five unique concoctions to choose from.
