Los popovers pueden hacerse sin molde especial, según un análisis científico

Según King Arthur Baking, un molde metálico estándar para muffins sirve para hacer popovers, aunque el molde específico da una base más definida y una parte superior más esponjosa.

In baking, ingredients and instructions are often very specific. According to DelightedCooking, even a pinch of baking powder can ruin a dish, and according to Wonder How To, the right utensil can also make the difference between success and failure.

Popovers are an example of a peculiar shape that reportedly requires a special mold. Merriam-Webster defines them as "a hollow, muffin-like cake made with a light batter of eggs, milk, and flour." Serious Eats describes them as the American version of Yorkshire pudding.

The Kitchn explains that special molds help the dough rise and form its characteristic dome and crispy exterior. According to Scientific American, the shape of a popover depends on two factors: the steam trapped in the dough during baking and the hollow shape of the mold.

King Arthur Baking found that a specific pan gives a more defined base and the characteristic fluffy top, but a standard metal muffin pan works just as well. For oversized popovers, they recommend a giant Texas muffin pan.

So, you can make popovers without a special mold, an original alternative to the toast that usually accompanies the weekend omelet.
