Con cuánta antelación se pueden preparar las manzanas acarameladas sin que pierdan calidad

Las manzanas acarameladas pueden prepararse hasta con una semana de antelación, siempre que el caramelo quede bien sellado y se conserven en frío.

Caramel apples are simply apples covered in caramel, but they need proper storage to minimize quality loss. The hole left by the stick allows air to enter, which can affect their freshness, and good insulation largely prevents this problem.

The first step is to completely cover the apple and part of the stick with the caramel layer, which hardens to seal the inside. For added protection, store them in airtight containers or wrap them in plastic wrap, tying it securely where the stick and apple meet.

In the refrigerator, they keep for five to seven days with virtually no change. They can last up to two weeks, although they will almost certainly lose some freshness during that time. Even so, slightly bruised apples are still safe to eat.

Not all varieties behave the same, and there are more than 20. Some darken more than others, so choose carefully. Pink Lady, Evercrisp, and Ambrosia are safe bets and are usually easy to find in stores.

Ideally, keep them in the refrigerator until you're ready to eat them. If they've been out overnight, that's fine: as long as the apple is well covered, it shouldn't affect its color or flavor. You can even leave them out for a day or two, provided the house temperature is 18 degrees Celsius or lower, because warmer weather can cause the caramel to start melting and let air in.

With the caramel coating, the skin, the wrapper, and the refrigerator, the caramel apples keep well for days.
