El agua de pozo suele ser segura para cocinar si se analiza periódicamente
La calidad del agua preocupa cada vez más, y el agua de pozo es, en general, segura para cocinar siempre que se analice con regularidad.
Although much of the population relies on water from the public network, managed by local authorities, many people obtain it directly from wells. According to the Florida Department of Health, well water is generally relatively simple and safe, and boiling it for cooking eliminates most pathogenic bacteria.
The important thing to note is that well water needs to be tested. Since it's not managed by any public entity, the well owner must pay for regular testing to detect heavy metals, contaminants, and harmful bacteria. This testing can be done through the county or state health department, or at licensed laboratories.
The CDC explains that these tests should be repeated regularly, especially if the well is near a construction zone, has been recently repaired, or has been in a flooded area, according to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. If the test indicates that the water is safe, it can be used for cooking without issue.
Taste matters, too. Even clean water can affect the flavor of dishes like coffee, where water quality makes a noticeable difference. Water analysis can help identify the source of an unpleasant taste so it can be corrected.
