10 Best SKS City Mall JBCC Food Places: Viral Bagels, Crab Roe Noodles And More

If you’ve been making your usual loop around Johor Bahru City Square and KSL City, it’s time to switch things up. SKS City Mall JBCC has officially opened in Bukit Senyum, just a five to 15-minute drive from Johor Bahru customs.

The new mall comes with 32 F&B options, and while it’s not as massive as some of JB’s bigger malls, the lineup is solid. Here are 10 food spots in SKS City Mall worth checking out on your next visit!

• 1. All About Chew

Cookie fans, this one’s for you. All About Chew, the IG-famous soft cookie brand with outlets across Malaysia, has finally made its way to Johor, marking its first outlet south of Klang Valley. The brand is known for its thicc, indulgent cookies that lean more gooey than crisp.

Their Big Ass Chocolate Softy goes for RM15.50, featuring a double milk chocolate cookie with a dark cocoa base. There’s also the Big Ass Raspberry Softy (RM18), which sees a buttery cookie base with a raspberry and caramelised white chocolate centre, while the Big Ass Matcha Softy (RM18) pairs a matcha cookie base with caramelised white chocolate. Bagel lovers will be happy to hear that popular Palates & Bagels has opened their fourth cafe at SKS City Mall! Everything here is baked in-house daily.

They’ve got a three-for-RM21 deal here on their premium bagel flavours: Choco Orange, Garlic Cream Cheese, and Focaccia. If you’re a fan of sweet bagels, try the Raspberry Lychee Cheese (RM14) or Charcoal Pistachio (RM15), a monstrosity of a dessert bagel with pistachio cream in a charcoal bagel, and crushed pistachios on top. • 3. Pacific Kopi

If you’re after something more local, drop by Pacific Kopi, a popular Nanyang-style cafe known for blending traditional kopitiam flavours with a slightly more contemporary setting. Their Mushroom Chicken Mala Pan Mee (RM14.90++) is a good example of that—classic pan mee with a spicy mala kick, topped with mushrooms and tender chicken.

For something more indulgent, Kay’s Steak & Lobster specialises in hearty Western mains built around quality cuts of meat and fresh seafood. Go all out with the Surf & Turf Ribeye Combo (RM350++), which pairs 200g of steak with lobster, along with your choice of side dish.

If you’re dining solo, the Peri-Peri Chicken (RM45++)—half a spring chicken with house-made peri-peri sauce and semi-dried baby tomatoes—or the Grilled Salmon (RM65++), featuring Atlantic salmon with seasonal produce and lemon herb aioli, are both good picks. Seafood lovers can make a beeline for Crab Bro Noodle House, known for their Shanghai-style crab roe noodles. Their Signature Crab Roe Noodles (RM98++) is the star of the menu, starring scallion oil noodles tossed in a rich, briny crab roe sauce.

Stock up on traditional Chinese pastries from Ming Ang Confectionery, a popular Malaysian brand that’s been around since 1992. A must-buy is their Tausa Peah (RM1.60), which is a flaky, savoury-sweet biscuit filled with mung bean paste.

For something more contemporary, try the Earl Grey Tea Pineapple Pastry (RM4.80 for three pieces), which puts a fragrant twist on the usual pineapple tart. Other must-tries include the Wife Cake (RM3.10) and Tambun Biscuit (RM13.50 for a box of 16), a peanut paste-filled biscuit that makes for an easy gift to bring back across the Causeway.

• 7. Arashi Shabu-Shabu

Hot pot fans can look forward to Arashi Shabu-Shabu, a Japanese hot pot chain with other JB outlets at KSL, Mid Valley Southkey and City Square. Unlike a typical shared steamboat setup, they serve individual pots, which means no fighting over ingredients in a communal vat.

Their signature Hot & Spicy Milk (RM16++) is the most ordered broth, alongside the Arashi Pumpkin Milk (RM16++) for something on the sweeter side. If you’re dining with a partner, the Seafood & Pork Cheek Combo (RM82.90++) is a good shout, packing in pork cheek, salmon, barramundi and squid for two.

Coffee lovers can swing by ZUS Coffee, the fast-growing Malaysian coffee chain that’s become a familiar sight across the country thanks to its tech-enabled ordering system and creative menu. Their Spanish Latte (RM12.20) is a fan favourite, balancing sweet condensed milk with a strong espresso base, while the Matcha Strawberry Latte (RM15.20) blends ceremonial-grade matcha with strawberry.

Bird’s nest is often thought of as an expensive, old-school tonic, but Sundaze is changing that perception with more affordable and modern versions.

Options include the Peach Gum Milk Bird’s Nest and Peach Gum Longan Bird’s Nest, both priced at RM20 for a 400ml bottle. Each drink mixes bird’s nest with milk for something more dessert-like. For the purists, their Signature Freshly Boiled Bird’s Nest (RM30 for 100ml) come in six flavours: Original, Pandan, Ginseng, Jujube, Goji, and Osmanthus.

Rounding out the list is Roast & Coffee Signature, a JB-born kopitiam brand already known for the long queues at its original Tan Hiok Nee outlet, run by three sisters carrying on their family recipes. Their laksa is arguably their most raved about dish, and their briyani with chicken rendang is another popular order.

The menu is also vegetarian-friendly, with dishes such as Salted Egg Vegetarian Chicken Rice (RM15.90), Cereal Vegetarian Fish Rice (RM15.90), and Vegetarian Cantonese Hor Fun (RM12.90). This SKS outlet also has a hand-baked shokupan exclusive to the branch, which makes for a good souvenir to bring home.
