Now that the year-end festivities are approaching, it’s time to schedule your annual catchups and gatherings with friends and family!

Check out this list of 15 new restaurants in Singapore in November 2024 for some inspiration on where to head to.

• 1. Joji’s Sandwich Parlour

Fans of the famous retro-style cafe Joji’s Diner would be happy to know that they’ve opened a new sister cafe, Joji’s Sandwich Parlour. Located right next to Joji’s Diner, this eatery focuses on US-style sandwiches. FYI, they are also open 24 hours, making it a perfect supper spot!

We recommend their signature Classic Reuben ($24) which is composed of black Angus beef brisket, yellow mustard, sauerkraut, and sliced cheese. The beef brisket is brined for 14 days and smoked over hickory wood, giving the meat a robust smoky flavour. Each sandwich comes with your choice of sides, which include Potato Salad, Onion Rings, Coleslaw and more!

• 2. Siong Tong Gai

Popular Malaysian seafood restaurant Siong Tong Gai has finally opened their very first outlet in Somerset! The chain has amassed a cult following for their authentic Malaysian flavours and fresh live seafood.

Here you can expect a variety of well-loved dishes from their Malaysian menu, as well as several newcomers. If there’s one thing you must order, it has to be their specialty, the Steamed Three Treasures with Hifin Patin ($35++ for two people).

The broth is light but robust, packed with generous amounts of fresh fish, clams, squid, and prawns! Other classics include their Sweet and Sour Popcorn Pork ($20.80++), Fried Prawns with Soy Sauce ($28.80++) and Crispy Homemade Tofu with Minced Meat ($13.80++).

• 3. Hvala

Popular cafe chain Hvala recently launched a collab with Butter Town, a hawker stall in Holland Drive best known for their shio pan. If you’d like to try the outlet-exclusive menu, head down to the new Raffles Specialist Centre cafe, which is just a two-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station.

Our favourite of the lot was The Three Musketeers ($23.90++), great if you love a variety. You get three bite-sized sliders featuring Butter Town’s shio pan: one with smoked salmon, the other with scallops, and the last with chicken chashu.

It’d be remiss of you not to get a drink at Hvala; their Matcha Hojicha ($9.50++) is a great place to start for a lovely blend of earthy and bittersweet flavours. • 4. Ginger.Lily

If you’re looking for a quiet and intimate high tea experience, look no further than Ginger.Lily at Hilton Singapore. Their new storybook-inspired afternoon tea series, Teatime Soirée, is priced at $68++ per person, and includes a welcome cocktail or mocktail, plus two pots of tea each.

There are two seatings daily: 1pm to 3pm, and 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Start with a medley of savoury bites, including Truffle Croque Monsieur Twist, topped with grated black truffle and truffle cream cheese, and Miso Brioche with Scallops.

Of course, the sweets are a highlight here. Look forward to eight handcrafted desserts, our favourites being the Pistachio “Flan Parisien” with Orange Blossom and Violet Chocolate Gâteau, featuring layers of banana jam, chocolate mousse, and raspberry crepes.

• 5. Grand Hyatt

For a halal-certified buffet with a focus on Asian cuisines, check out StraitsKitchen at Grand Hyatt Singapore. We recommend dropping by for their Dinner Buffet, priced at $78++ per person from Sunday to Thursday, and $88++ for Fridays, Saturdays, and public holidays.

We visited recently and loved their wide range of Indian dishes, including fresh naan, curries, briyani, and tandoori! Other must-tries are their charcoal-grilled satay, double-boiled soup, and cooked-to-order noodles: Laksa Singapura and Prawn Mee. Don’t miss out on the dessert selection too, featuring assorted Malay and Nyonya Kueh, Ice Kachang, Goreng Pisang, Sago Gula Melaka and more.

ICYMI: Melbourne-famous dessert cafe Homm is now in Singapore! The new Raffles City cafe offers Thai-inspired desserts, ranging from shokupan toasts to mochi ice cream.

• 7. Sukkee Coffee

Another orh nee-focused cafe has launched in Orchard! Suukee Coffee, known for their yam toast and kopi, has opened their second outlet at Scotts Square as a pop-up, which runs from now till early February 2025.

Thereafter, they will convert to a permanent cafe in the basement of the mall. Their Orh Nee Butter (price TBD) is a must-try; you get toast sandwiched with creamy taro paste and thick slabs of butter for extra richness. They also have Orh Nee Boba Kopi (price TBD) and Orh Nee Boba Teh (price TBD), which feature the same house-made yam paste smeared in each cup.

• 8. Lilyan

The next time you’re in Boat Quay, make a pitstop at Lilyan, a Japan-famous noodle shop with fresh and affordable soba. You won’t break the bank here, as the cheapest mains go for just $12++ each: Kake, a hot soba dish with dashi soup, and Mori, a cold soba dish with a traditional tsuyu dipping.

If you don’t mind spending a little more, go for the Toriten ($22+), a cold noodle dish featuring buckwheat noodles served with a side of grated daikon, tsuyu (a soy-based dipping sauce), and chicken tempura. We found the soba smooth and slightly chewy with a subtle nuttiness from the buckwheat, pairing well with the umami soy dip.

The daikon brightened the overall flavour profile of the dish, making it more enjoyable from start to end. The eatery is small and cosy, so it might be best to visit at an off-peak timing!

• 9. US Pizza

If you’ve yet to try the viral cheese boat pizza that’s been all over TikTok, this is your sign to head to US Pizza. The popular Malaysian chain, located under a Bedok HDB block, has recently obtained halal certification!

We’ve also been told that US Pizza will be opening two new outlets in Ang Mo Kio and City Hall soon. Their popular Cheese Boat Pizza ($21.90) comprises layers of thin pizza dough filled with sinful amounts of cheese, topped with an egg in the middle.

• 10. Nibbies Cafe

Located on the second floor of a Telok Ayer shophouse, Nibbies Cafe is a hidden gem that resembles a cosy Japanese-inspired living room. The spacious cafe is decked out in Godzilla-themed posters, low chairs, and a bookshelf filled with books and magazines.

If you’re dining solo, opt for the IG-worthy seats by the window, which also make for a great people-watching spot! While the cafe specialises in coffee and toast, they’ve since expanded their menu to include Japanese-inspired mains, including Curry Don With Hamburg Steak ($18), Natto With Rice ($10) and more.

They also serve light bites such as Tater Tots ($8), which pair well with the umami Mentaiko and Tobiko Sauce ($3). Drinks-wise, we recommend their Ube Matcha (from $8) and Matcha Pistachio ($7). The latter is best enjoyed as a hot beverage and is garnished with crushed pistachio.

• 11. Scarlett Supermarket

Scarlett Supermarket recently opened their biggest outlet at Westgate with a dining hall, where you can dine and feast on an array of affordable eats. The dining area seats about 30 people at once and becomes packed during lunchtime, so we recommend visiting during off-peak hours if possible!

For starters, the Sichuan Cold Noodles ($4) from Jiang Ji is a great choice; you get cold, springy noodles in a tangy-spicy Sichuan sauce. Pair this with Dough Magic’s Signature Xiao Long Bao with Pork ($6.80), comprising five XLB perfect for sharing. If you’re craving a sweet treat, you won’t go wrong with the QQ Yam Set 1 ($3.90) from Tastea.

• 12. Daily Beer

Fried chicken fiends can now get their fix at Daily Beer‘s second outlet in Singapore, at CHIJMES! The popular restaurant chain boasts over 370 outlets across Korea.

Get their signature Korean fried chicken, known as Angry Bird on the menu. Prices for the original version without any sauce start at $28++ for 600g of wings, $29++ for 600g of boneless meat, and $32++ for a whole chicken with eight pieces. On our visit to their OG Telok Ayer branch, we found the chicken crispy on the outside and tender in the middle.

Complete your fried chicken feast with their lineup of craft beers; must-haves include Seoul Weizen ($13++), a smooth German wheat beer said to complement spicy food, and K-Festbier ($14++), a lager with a caramel-like sweetness. Read our Daily Beer feature!

• 13. Kumachan Onsen

New kid on the Orchard Central block, Kumachan Onsen Shabu Shabu & Yakiniku, hails from Hokkaido, Japan. You can get their popular teddy bear hotpot sets here; simply start by choosing from six soup bases: Soymilk Soup, Gochujang Soup, Japanese Miso Soup, Chicken Mapo Soup, Bonito Soup, and Collagen Soup.

Each individual set comes with a frozen collagen kuma-chan, AKA bear, sitting in an “onsen”. Hot water is added to your pot, melting the bear into the broth, so you get a rich collagen soup for dunking your meats into.

For mains, there are options such as Chicken ($15.80++), Double Beef Karubi ($21.80++), and Premium Beef Karubi ($23.80++). Each set includes the usual hotpot liao such as silken tofu and enoki mushrooms.

• 14. One18 Bakery

If you love pastries as much as we do, make a beeline to One18 Bakery‘s newest Bugis cafe for their $29.90 pastry buffet. The first slot starts at 11am and the last at 6:30pm, with each slot lasting 90 minutes long.

Reservations are highly recommended. The spread includes a great variety of fresh bakes, from savoury croissants filled with Sambal Ikan Billis, Chicken Briyani, and Beef Rendang, to sweet pastries loaded with Creamy Pistachio, Roasted Hazelnut, and Speculoos Biscoff.

• 15. Royal Host

Popular Japanese family restaurant chain Royal Host is slated to open their second outlet in Singapore, at Takashimaya soon. They first arrived on our shores at Jewel Changi in July 2024.

For starters, you won’t go wrong with the “ROYAL” Onion Gratin Soup ($7.80++), which comes with a generous amount of gooey cheese and sweet caramelised onions. Their “ROYAL” Omurice Demiglace Sauce ($26.80++) is another hot favourite, starring fried rice blanketed by an omelette, drenched in a house-made demiglace sauce and sauteed mushrooms.

The omelette is made with eggs from the Kyushu region, known for its silky texture. Alternatively, those who want more protein can try the “ROYAL” Hamburg Steak ($29.80++), served on a hotplate.
