Get Toasted Matcha Latte And Viral Korean Desserts At This Minimalist Cafe In JB

Hailing from China, OFFFFive Coffee, or 5Coffee, is an IG-worthy cafe known for its white, simple interiors.

The cafe has made its way to Johor Bahru (JB), where it serves up a range of trendy drinks and pastries. We dropped by their flagship outlet at Eco Botanic to try some of their crowd favourites.

FYI, the cafe is also known as Lavida Coffee in Malaysia! The current exchange rate is RM1 = ~S$0.30 as of 16 April 2025.

Though primarily known for their coffee, their line of matcha-based beverages is worth a try too. We opted for the Matcha Strawberry (RM13.80), which had the right amount of strawberry compote at the bottom. The matcha flavour wasn’t too strong, and the puree brought a nice fruitiness to the overall earthy drink.

We also tried their Planet Latte (RM17.80), comprising three vibrant layers of blue milk, espresso, and matcha, symbolising the colours that make up planet Earth. When stirred well, the strong coffee notes overpowered the matcha flavour, making this a great pick for those who enjoy a stronger coffee kick in their dirty matcha. The Donut Matcha Latte (RM13.80), comprising a layer of matcha foam torched for extra toastiness, was a collective favourite.

The subtle smokiness balanced out the matcha’s natural bitterness, making the drink extra earthy. If matcha isn’t your thing, opt for their crowd favourite Pineapple Americano (RM12.80) or Coconut Latte (RM16.80) instead.

The former sees espresso with soda water and pineapple sauce, making for a refreshing quencher on a hot day. Drinks aside, Lavida Coffee has an impressive range of pastries, such as the Dirty Crown (RM32), inspired by the popular Korean pastry cafe Nudake.

A black croissant pastry is loaded with a creamy matcha milk filling that oozes out upon your first bite. Alternatively, the Margiela (RM22) stars a charcoal chocolate shelled cake filled with Earl Grey mousse, matcha cream, hazelnut bits, and chocolate sponge.

Lavida Coffee has two outlets in JB, one at the new cafe hotspot Eco Botanic, and the other at Permas City Outlet. Both are just a 25 and 13-minute drive from the customs, respectively.

Each outlet boasts a spacious, minimalist interior, perfect for a chill hangout over coffee with friends. In related content, read our guide to the best cafes in Johor Bahru.
