José Pizarro opens Lolo in London, a breakfast-to-dinner restaurant

Extremaduran chef José Pizarro opens Lolo, a Bermondsey Street restaurant open from breakfast to dinner.

Pizarro already had several restaurants in the English capital, including José Tapas Bar, Pizarro, José Pizarro Broadgate, The Swan Inn and The Poster Bar, in addition to José by Pizarro in Abu Dhabi and the Iris Zahara guesthouse in Zahara de los Atunes (Cadiz).

The new Lolo is on Bermondsey Street, a few meters from José Tapas Bar and Pizarro restaurant, and is open continuously from 8:00 to 21:30. For breakfast there are sandwiches, such as the beef with melted cheese and confit green peppers, the 5J ham with cheese and truffle, or the tuna with tomato and watercress, as well as egg dishes, cakes and fruit.

The lunch and dinner menu features classic Spanish tapas, such as gildas (anchovy, olive, and pepper skewers) or pickled mussels with chips, and salads like octopus with roasted tomato or white bean with smoked eggplant. There are also gourmet preserves, cheese boards, cured meats and salted fish, and dishes like Gadira tuna loin tartare with peach, Mediterranean red prawn carpaccio with orange and chili pepper, or Iberian pork stew made with its own extra virgin olive oil.

Spanish wines are the main focus of the drinks menu, although cocktails are also available. The restaurant seats 46 diners and has a bar area for quick meals and more informal gatherings.

Pizarro explains the opening this way: “I’m delighted to bring Lolo to Bermondsey Street, as a place to eat all day is just what the neighbors needed. The menu includes dishes straight from my kitchen, and I’m passionate about bringing these recipes to life at Lolo,” says the chef from Cáceres.
