Salt Bae turns off the heating in his London restaurant due to high bills
Salt Bae turned off the heating at his London restaurant, Nurs Et, because of exorbitant bills, although he later denied the accusation.
According to The Guardian, the London restaurant Nurs Et, part of the Nurs Et Steakhouse chain, has reportedly received higher bills. The Turkish chef and entrepreneur, despite sales increasing by almost two-thirds, has allegedly decided to lower the heating to save money. This move is paradoxical, given that his public image has been built around the exaltation of luxury and abundance.
According to The Guardian, the company is committed to optimizing energy consumption. To this end, it turns off the central heating after closing time or during peak hours, when demand is lower, and turns off the lights when the restaurant is empty.
After numerous criticisms for its exorbitant prices, which supposedly caused it to lose customers, the London restaurant has launched a lower-priced menu. The famous gold-leaf-covered Tomahawk steak, which costs around €1,700, is not included.
Following the publication in The Guardian, the company contacted the newspaper to clarify that the objective was not so much to save money as to reduce its carbon footprint.
