Philly’s Colorful New Pizza Place Isn’t Just for the Kids

Philly’s Colorful New Pizza Place Isn’t Just for the Kids

Cerveau is a new pizza spot from chef Joe Hunter, who was one of the original partners at the beloved but now-closed Pizza Brain.

What to order:

  • Pizzas are the main event here, with thin crusts and plenty of toppings. We preferred the simpler versions like the cheese pie, called a Plain Jane ($17) or pepperoni ($19). The crab rangoon pie was a miss ($28) with too much cream cheese and not enough flavor.
  • Snacks like charred broccolini ($12) and butternut squash ($14) are nice to round out a meal if you require vegetables. Entrees like a roasted half-chicken ($39) or hanger steak ($48) are available, though why bother when the pizza is that good?
  • There’s beer, wine, and cocktails available, plus plenty of nonalcoholic options.

Best for

Cerveau screams family pizza night or friend get-together, with long picnic tables that can easily accommodate larger groups. A birthday party would also fit in nicely here.

Insider tip

Cerveau also offers a nice lunch menu, with Italian sandwiches, soups, and salads. This would be a great spot for a weekend lunch with friends or skipping out early from work on a Friday.
