McDonald’s To Launch Chilli Crab Sauce Burgers With JUMBO Seafood—Here's Our Honest Review

McDonald’s is dropping what might be its most iconic launch yet: a chilli crab burger collab with popular homegrown brand JUMBO Seafood.

We’re all for this new locally inspired menu, which will roll out on 10 July 2025, just in time to celebrate SG60, Singapore’s 60th birthday. The most noteworthy picks are the Chilli Crab Sauce Prawn Burger and Chilli Crab Sauce Chicken Burger, which are available from $8.95 for an Extra Value Meal.

Both burgers are packed with a special chilli crab sauce inspired by JUMBO’s award-winning recipe. FYI: This secret sauce, co-created by McDonald’s and JUMBO, took a whole year of R&D and over 50 iterations to create. I found it on the sweeter side, with a mildly spicy kick that’s suitable for kids.

The chilli crab flavour is definitely there—just don’t expect it to taste exactly like JUMBO’s OG sauce. After trying both burgers, I preferred the prawn version.

The prawn patty paired excellently with the piquant chilli crab sauce—its tangy, slightly spicy flavour complemented the patty’s mild seafood sweetness, and the prawn chunks were a solid substitute for crab. The fluffy scrambled egg in the middle also acted as a canvas to soak up the sauce, which helped prevent the brioche buns from turning soggy.

If you’re extra peckish, you can go for the Double, which comes with two prawn patties. The Chilli Crab Sauce Chicken Burger is a great alternative for those who don’t eat seafood, as it swaps the prawn patty for a crispy chicken one.

While there was nothing wrong with the flavour combination, the dense chicken meat detracted from the chilli crab sauce. To go with your burgers, get the all-new Kampung Drumlets (from $3.35)—crispy fried chicken wings coated in a fragrant mix of chilli, turmeric, cumin, and ginger. They reminded me of curry chicken in deep-fried form.

Wash it all down with an Iced Dinosaur, where iced Milo is topped with a generous heap of malty Milo powder. For dessert, you won’t go wrong with the Pulut Hitam Pie (from $1.80), which is also making a comeback this July.

This pie was first launched for National Day 2022! It stars McDonald’s classic crispy pie pastry filled with a coconutty black glutinous rice filling that’s creamy but not too sweet. I liked that there were chewy bits of pulut hitam within the pie for textural contrast.

There’s also the Chendol Soft Serve (from $1.30): coconut and gula melaka-infused ice cream served in a cone, Sundae, or McFlurry form. There’s new merch, too.

You can snag the new McDonald’s Lunch Bag, a thermal-insulated carrier, from 28 July 2025, 11am. It goes for $7.90 with any Extra Value Meal purchased.

The other items will launch on 10 July at all McDonald’s outlets islandwide, as well as via Drive-Thru, McDelivery, GrabFood, foodpanda and Deliveroo. Try this limited-time menu before it’s too late!

In other news, cult-favourite Aussie brand Yo-Chi Frozen Yoghurt is set to open their first store in Singapore this August. You can also read our guide to new Chinese food brands that have recently launched in Singapore.
